Continental Army Plaza (where the bridge run starts/bike side of the WBurg bridge)

This Saturday we’re having a special holiday edition of the Donut Run!

The premise is deceptively simple: complete the run from start to finish and consume a full doughnut at each location and be crowned doughnut royalty.

donutrun
The second and final donut run of 2015 keeps it local, hitting only Brooklyn’s finest donut shops.

We’ll start at Continental Army Plaza (where the bridge run starts/bike side of the WBurg bridge) at 10am and then hit the following stops on this Route:

  1. Dough (Franklin & Lafayette)
  2. Carpe Donut Pop-Up Shop (157 Prospect Park SW)
  3. Doughnut Plant (245 Flatbush Ave
  4. Peter Pan (727 Manhattan Avenue)

We’ll go at a leisurely pace, befitting a procession of royals (schedule around 2 1/2 hours for the whole she-bang). Join us anywhere along the route, but be mindful that you must complete the course (and doughnuts) from start to finish to have your feat preserved in the annals of history.

Sunday Long Run, Trick or Taper Edition (a Todd Zino tradition) followed by Brunch sponsored by Airbnb by nbrwebjohn

October 25th, Sunday
8:00 AM
Start McCarren Park Track (North Side of Track)

Brunch will be breakfast burritos & coffee at Urban Rustic ().  Arrive between 9:15-10am.  Post on Google Group here if you’re planning of coming so we can have a general idea of how much food to order.

This week as we taper for the marathon, Airbnb is sponsoring our run by providing brunch, after the run.  They also offer a great opportunity to volunteer and more free food after volunteering… we all love food, doing good for the community, and hanging out together so sign up!!

The run will start at the Bins in McCarren Park at 8am and go out to Forest Hills Park and a bunch of cemeteries for 11 miles.

Here is the route. We go out Driggs, take a right on Morgan ave, veer to the left as it becomes Knickerbocker Ave, then a left on Cooper Ave, a right Cypress Ave, a right onto Vermont Pl, cross the street and enter the park.  We will run a partial loop of the park, exiting on Highland Blvd, then taking a right onto Bushwick Ave, left on Metropolitan ave, and finally a right on Union to take us back to the Park.

If you take a right on Cooper Ave (instead of the left) and then take a right on Bushwick Ave, and return to the park, this would be about 8 miles.

As always, bring metro card, money, gels, ID etc…safety first!

We encourage everyone to come out and run with us. All paces and distances are welcome. (Post your pace and distance so others can join you and all will be happy.)

If you’re new to the group or the long run, feel free to email me directly with any questions.

NBR Donut Run – Spring 2015 by nbrwebjohn

The Bins (Northside of McCarren Park Track)

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Donut Kingdom,

Mishka Vertin, Donut Empress, is visiting in early June, and to honor her return we are hosting the Donut Run!

For the uninitiated, the Donut Run involves running from donut shop to donut shop, testing the spoils of this donut rich city.  The course usually covers 8-10 miles and 4 donuts.  Those who eat a full donut at each location are crowned Donut Royalty FOREVER (For-ev-er…).

We will meet at the bins at 10am, discuss our favorite things about donuts, and be on our merry ways.  Route map to come.
